Zaman is a non-profit organization committed to facilitating change and advancement of the lives of marginalized women and children, by enabling them to meet essential needs common to all humankind. Founded in 1996 and incorporated in 2004 as a 501(c)(3), Zaman has to date assisted more than 250,000 people in Southeast Michigan with food, clothing, furniture, utility assistance, infant burial, and other essential needs. All proceeds from the Run Walk Picnic will be directed to these Michigan-based programs.
In addition to Zaman's Michigan-based programs and through its international activities and partnerships, Zaman has also provided humanitarian relief, disaster response, and access to safe drinking water to an additional 430,000 people across the world. Since March 2016, Zaman has operated out of the Hope For Humanity Center, a 40,500-square-foot facility in Inkster that houses its crisis assistance, vocational training and life skills programs.
In 2018, Zaman distributed 170,400 pounds of food, collected 886,950 pounds of clothing, provided over 7,750 hours of job skills and literacy instruction to more than 90 women, and gave 268 winter coats and 895 school supply-filled backpacks to local children. Meanwhile, it partnered with 444 community partners on a range of initiatives and funded overseas relief projects bringing safe water and humanitarian relief to more than 431,900 people. The success of Zaman and its continued growth comes from the passion and dedication to the mission shared by team members, volunteers, supporters and community partners.
We hope you will join us as we work to break the cycle of poverty one family at a time.
