What is Zaman?

Zaman International is a nonprofit organization with nearly 30 years of experience helping women and children break the cycle of extreme poverty. Headquartered at the Hope For Humanity Center in Inkster, Michigan, Zaman provides a holistic range of services including food and clothing assistance, infant burial, vocational and literacy training, and job placement programs. Since its founding in 1996, Zaman has helped over 540,000 people across Southeast Michigan and more than 5 million individuals worldwide through its global relief efforts.

At the heart of Zaman’s work is a commitment to dignity and sustainability. Its unique, hands-on approach is built around home visits, in-person consultations, and long-term case management. This allows Zaman to meet families where they are and walk alongside them on the path toward stability and self-reliance. Through education, vocational training, and employment programs, Zaman empowers clients to move from urgent need to lasting change by turning handouts into hands-on opportunities for growth.

“All people deserve the chance to live with dignity,” says Najah Bazzy, Founder and CEO of Zaman. “Zaman was built to meet people’s needs in their most difficult moments and then help them build a future filled with hope and possibility.”

The Run Walk Picnic directly supports Zaman’s Michigan-based programs and is a powerful example of how community members can come together to uplift their neighbors in need.

The success of Zaman and its continued growth comes from the passion and dedication to the mission shared by team members, volunteers, supporters, and community partners like you.
