Zaman is a non-profit organization committed to facilitating change and advancement of the lives of marginalized women and children, by enabling them to meet essential needs common to all humankind. Founded in 1996 and incorporated in 2004 as a 501(c)(3), Zaman has, to date, provided more than 320,000 points of service in Southeast Michigan with food, clothing, furniture, utility assistance, infant burial, and other essential needs. All proceeds from the Run Walk Picnic will be directed to these Michigan-based programs.
In addition to its Michigan-based programs, Zaman has provided over 2,460,000 services around the world, including humanitarian relief, disaster response, and access to safe drinking water through global partnerships.
Since March 2016, Zaman has operated out of the Hope For Humanity Center, a 40,500-square-foot facility in Inkster that houses its basic needs assistance, vocational and literacy training, and job readiness and placement programs.
In 2020, Zaman stepped up and responded to the COVID-19 crisis for local families, distributing 376,046 pounds of food in Southeast Michigan, more than twice the amount distributed in 2019. 70 women participated in Literacy, Culinary, Sewing, and Entrepreneurship classes through our BOOST programs during the 2019 / 2020 Academic year. And 33 Zaman clients obtained employment with support from our programs. Zaman did this with the assistance of over 5,770 hours of volunteer service and over 580 community partnerships.
The success of Zaman and its continued growth comes from the passion and dedication to the mission shared by team members, volunteers, supporters and community partners.
We hope you will join us as we work to break the cycle of poverty one family at a time.
